Eclipse of August 12, 2026: who it hit hardest

An eclipse works by degree, not by sign — 20°02′ Leo. How to check yourself first by birth date, then by natal chart: the degree, the house, the planet nearby.

Eclipse of August 12, 2026: who it hit hardest

After an eclipse, one half of your feed writes: "it wrecked me." The other half: "I felt absolutely nothing."

And that's normal.

Because an eclipse doesn't work on the principle of "I'm a Leo, so this is about me."

The exact point of this eclipse is 20°02′ Leo. The more precisely it touches your natal chart, the more visibly the story unfolds.

Step 1. By birth date — a quick estimate

The Sun moves roughly 1° per day, so first we look at those whose Sun sits close to the eclipse degree.

♌️ LEO · August 10–16 The eclipse lands on your Sun. Theme: you, your role, how you show up. Who have you become — and have you already outgrown the earlier version of yourself?

♒️ AQUARIUS · February 5–11 The eclipse falls opposite your Sun. Theme: relationships and partnership. Who is beside you? Where does "I" end and "we" begin?

♉️ TAURUS · May 8–14 A tense aspect to your Sun. Theme: home, family, roots, inner ground.

♏️ SCORPIO · November 10–16 A tense aspect to your Sun. Theme: career, status, the direction you're heading in.

If you're not on this list, there's no need to go looking for drama. The eclipse still lands in one of your houses, but the personal hit can be far gentler.

Step 2. By natal chart — this is where it gets precise

Your Sun sign is only one part of the picture.

Look at three things.

1. The degree

Do you have planets or important points at 17°–23° of Leo, Aquarius, Taurus or Scorpio?

The closer to 20°, the more exact the contact.

Nothing there? That's fine. It means the eclipse may pass much more quietly.

2. The house

Find which house of your chart holds 20° Leo.

That's what answers the question: "Where will this story play out?"

For example:

  • 2nd house — money and self-worth
  • 4th house — home and family
  • 7th house — relationships
  • 10th house — career and status

This is why two Leos can live through the very same eclipse in completely different ways.

3. Which planet the eclipse hit

  • ☉ Sun — role, identity, how you show up
  • ☽ Moon — emotions, safety, inner state
  • ☿ Mercury — decisions, information, important conversations
  • ♀ Venus — relationships, values, money
  • ♂ Mars — action, conflict, a change of course
  • ASC Ascendant — your self-image and how you come across

And this is where your personal eclipse story begins.

Step 3. "I felt nothing" is also a result

An eclipse isn't obliged to stage an event exactly on August 12.

Often what happens first is almost imperceptible: a conversation, a thought, a decision, an introduction, a refusal, an urge to change direction.

And its meaning only becomes clear later.

So the right question isn't:

"What is supposed to happen to me today?"

But:

"Which storyline is starting to shift right now?"

Remember August. Then look back a few months later — and see which of the things that felt trivial turned out to be the start of a big change.

What's worth doing, and what isn't

Worth doing: observing · writing down what's happening and what you want · noticing what starts leaving on its own · giving important decisions time to ripen

Not worth doing: deciding at an emotional peak · breaking what you built over years on a single impulse · blaming the eclipse for every setback · bracing for catastrophe in advance

An eclipse is not a punishment, and not a promise that "everything will change."

It's a point that can show you where the old script has stopped fitting.

Who the August 12 eclipse touched, by sign

A quick estimate by Sun sign. Only the degree gives a precise answer, but this is where to start.

Aries

Fifth house: love, creative work, children. The question of what you do for pleasure rather than for results.

Taurus

Fourth: home, family, roots. Often a literal move or a conversation with parents.

Gemini

Third: speech, study, the immediate circle. What you say, and to whom, changes.

Cancer

Second: money and self-worth. A reassessment of what you are worth.

Leo

First: you. A direct hit — see the separate article for Leos.

Virgo

Twelfth: the hidden. The quietest version — fatigue and the need to disappear for a while.

Libra

Eleventh: friends and plans. Your circle changes on its own, without your decision.

Scorpio

Tenth: career and status. A sharp turn at work is possible.

Sagittarius

Ninth: beliefs, study, long journeys. What you believe in shifts.

Capricorn

Eighth: shared resources, trust, debts. The theme of money with other people.

Aquarius

Seventh: partnership. The other end of the eclipse axis — almost certainly touched.

Pisces

Sixth: work, body, routine. The body is usually the first to speak up.

Frequently asked questions

Why does an eclipse work by degree rather than by sign? Because it is a point, not a period. The August 12 eclipse stood at 20°02′ Leo: a planet at 3° Leo barely registers it, while a planet at 19° of any sign feels it strongly.

How long does the influence last? Usually up to six months — until the next eclipse season.

I felt nothing. Is that bad? No, that is normal. If you have no planets or chart angles near 20°, the eclipse is background for you.

What should you avoid during an eclipse? Irreversible decisions at the peak. An eclipse is good at showing what stopped working and poor at suggesting what to do instead.
